SCOTTeVEST Inc. (SeV) is a growing ecommerce apparel business created to solve a very common problem: a thoughtful way to carry and organize gadgets and gear. They offer a wide array of clothing – vests, jackets, shirts, hats to fit those who desire functional clothing at an affordable price. Customers can purchase direct from the SCOTTeVEST site at – www.scottevest.com.

The Challenge

In 2008, SCOTTeVEST had outgrown its existing facility. They also needed a more sophisticated operating environment and geographically centralized location to efficiently handle the growing fulfillment operation and return processes of their items. Also, because of their expanding business, SeV needed a partner who could scale and provide not only fulfillment services, but also an exceptional customer experience as their business grows.

The DTI Solution

SCOTTeVEST, Inc. selected DTI Warehouse to manage their fulfillment and customer care operations. To ensure a seamless transition, DTI’s management spent a significant amount of time working directly with SeV to learn the product and nuance of their business. They rolled up their sleeves and performed every aspect of the fulfillment, returns, inventory management, and customer contact center processes - quickly identifying ways to improve efficiency and accuracy as implemented at DTI’s facility. DTI is uniquely qualified to handle the volumes of direct to consumer orders as well as manage the larger direct to business shipments.

DTI developed a detailed work plan to address every step of the transition – work flow, systems interfaces, hiring, training, inventory transfer over a thousand miles, stocking, and establishing a basis for the customer experience team, while avoiding any disruption to the business.

The Results

SCOTTeVEST and DTI Warehouse successfully made this transition work on time and on budget. The two companies were able to get their respective order management and inventory systems integrated easily – in less than two weeks! As SeV continues to experience growth, DTI proactively plans and manages its role as the provider of fulfillment and customer experience services. DTI is also focused on providing greater value to SeV through analysis of inventory productivity, reducing operational costs, and facilitating the implementation of unique offerings as required.

ExitCertified has provided individual and corporate clients with a superior learning experience since 2001. As a trusted education partner they deliver more than 9500 authorized IT training courses for 20+ vendors. ExitCertified offers flexible training options; delivering live onsite training from a variety of locations in North America, while meeting the global education delivery needs of our corporate clients through our self-paced and virtual classroom delivery formats.

The Challenge

ExitCertified has seen significant growth in its virtual classroom education program called iMVP. This solution has requirements for its clients to receive student technology and materials prior to the start of training. ExitCertified had been handling these fulfillment operations from a variety of corporate locations using available in-house staff. While they were managing the process well when the program was launching, soon with the rapid growth of the program, it became apparent that another solution would be more productive and cost effective to manage this process. DTI was recommended to ExitCertified by a former client and Chief Financial Officer to help develop a solution to better source, present and fulfill the student kits.

The DTI Solution

ExitCertified selected DTI warehouse to manage their global fulfillment of student kits in April of 2014. The first priority was to help ExitCertified source the technology used in the kits to improve the procurement costs of this technology. Second, the new iMVP kit needed a new marketing and branding image. DTI introduced ExitCertified to another company to develop and manufacture a custom packaging solution. These first two collaborations were critical to getting involved in the kit fulfillment and inventory management for ExitCertified.

DTI also worked with ExitCertified to integrate the order flow from their internal sales systems to the warehouse management system. This seamless integration allowed for a smooth transition to DTI for the operations and has provided ExitCertified the much needed visibility to order and inventory transactions.

The Results

ExitCertified teamed up with DTI Warehouse to successfully transition a more cost-effective fulfillment process from their headquarters in Canada to DTI’s distribution center in the United States. DTI looks to replicate this model to help growing companies manage their growth. NATIONAL RETAILER

DTI has been handling technology staging and consolidation for this retailer since 1999. This client operates over 1,800 retail store locations that periodically require new store technology to be deployed and supported.

The Challenge

The challenge for this retailer was in having all the components of each store’s IT installations arrive together, on schedule, with software loaded, and all hardware and software fully tested. If a single component was missing or not working properly, it would result in costly delays in installation and disrupt store operations. As with all companies, managing the process in an efficient and cost-effective manner is part of their corporate culture.

This client also needed someone to manage its equipment suppliers, handle warranty claims as needed, and assist with the on-going replacement and support of technology equipment to its stores.

The DTI Solution

DTI has extensive experience managing this type of program for retailers. The process used for this national retailer, among others, began with a detailed work plan approved by the client, and timely communication and follow up with all parties contributing to a successful implementation.

A key component of DTI’s solution was its WebCenter system, which tracks all assets by serial ID, location, steps in the overall process, and activity history. Clients can access the system via the web, enter orders, and have real-time visibility to their assets and DTI’s activities.

DTI staged all the equipment as it arrived, loaded the necessary software, and verified that the hardware and software are operating properly. Then DTI consolidated the equipment by destination and coordinated the shipment for delivery on client specified dates. As an added and equally important service, DTI provided on-going support to the stores through its Depot Maintenance program. The “Depot” supplies customer installable components (such printers, keyboards, and displays) direct to the stores as required. This provides tremendous cost savings to the retailer over traditional “on-site” maintenance service providers and maintains the integrity of managing the assets throughout the enterprise.

Throughout this process, DTI worked directly with the client’s suppliers, managed any issues, and handled warranty claims. Finally, DTI assisted with the liquidation of the discontinued equipment returning from the stores, maximizing the residual value that was realized, and avoided any EPA issues from disposals.

The Results

The client and DTI have successfully completed the rollout of hundreds of new store systems without any delays in installation or missing equipment. Additionally, a pilot program for Depot Maintenance support for over 100 stores was conducted. DTI is now responsible for the execution of this program to the entire chain of over 1,800 locations. Not only did DTI exceed the operational expectations, it was able to refine its Depot program and reduce the costs to the retailer by an average of 15% over the pilot program. DTI is uniquely positioned to handle these large, complex distribution projects, particularly those involving complex technology solutions.
